Hotel Texas

This paper focuses on the Hotel Texas historical perspective. In 1919, a group of most outstanding businessmen planned to build a first-class hotel. Construction of Hotel Texas started in 1920 and completed in 1921. Crowell, Russell and Mauran, as well as Staats and Sanguinet designed, Hotel Texas. They designed it under Westlake construction Co. as the contractor . The Hotel Texas 13 story building is classical in historical and architectural perspective. This hotel is situated in city center Fort Worth in Texas and 20 miles from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Today, Hotel Texas is known as Hilton Fort Worth.

Hotel Texas has historic events associated with death of John F. Kennedy that is imprinted in memory of America as a nation. On the 21st of November 1963 President and Mrs Kennedy stayed at Hotel in Room 850, a few hours prior to his assassination in Dallas. In the Hotel Texas during this day there was a special art exhibition organized by a group of Fort Worth citizens. That is why Hotel Texas has a historical background in culture and political aspect.

Ever since it construction, Hotel has gone various transformation in the aspect of extended construction, renovation and change of name. In 1961, additional construction to the North and this construction featured a ballroom on the second level. In 1968, major renovation was done. It is from this renovation that, the hotel operated as Sheraton Fort Worth from 1968 to 1979.

From 1979 to 1981 architects Putty and Jarvis restored the hotel and started to operate as Hyatt Regency Fort Worth. Restoration of hotel involved, restoring of space of the lobby to the original configuration and creation of a new interior. Moreover, there was an installation of new lighting on the upper levels resembling the original lighting of the hotel. In 1995, the hotel changed management and worked as the Radisson Fort Worth until 2005. From 2005 to 2006, the insides of the Hotel Texas were improved. In April 2006, began to operate as the Hilton Fort Worth. Currently, Hilton Fort Worth has 294 guestrooms. Therefore, Hotel Texas is classical in historical and architectural perspective.
