An outline is very important for writing a paper, an essay or any piece of writing. It helps you in planning your paper well. If you have an outline for your paper, then 50% of your work is already done. All you have to do is elaborate the points that you have listed down. It divides all your paper in easy headings. The order of the paper is determined in the outline. If you haven’t made an outline, then it is most likely that you would keep delaying the paper because it will be in a mess. However, if you have the outline ready, you feel motivated and are happy to start as soon as possible.
Following tips will help you write an outline that corresponds with your project.
The first thing you need to do is divide your work into different parts. There must be a lot of raw material that you have collected through research. You need to divide it in the outline. This is where you decide, which data has to be placed where.
After you have decided which data has to be put where, make sure to give them headings. There is an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. The body can have as many sub divisions as you want depending upon the type and requirements of your paper.
Now that you have headings, next thing you should do is, assign the data under these headings. See where you have to put quotes, under what heading will you give examples, what heading will be used to critique, where will you evaluate your topic, so on and so forth.
After you have compiled the data into its place, now is time to arrange the hierarchy of the paper. Carefully analyze which information you want to give the reader in the start and what will you reveal later. It is very important to set the order of the paper in your outline. You cannot state the conclusion in the beginning and then move forward with the rest of the data.
Finally extract down your paper to a conclusion in your outline. Be sure to keep the conclusion last in your paper and nothing should come after it.
